Rutgers Falls Short Against Michigan in Big Ten Dual
No. 17 Rutgers wrestling battled No. 13 Michigan in front of more than 4,000 fans at Jersey Mike’s Arena, but the Scarlet Knights came up short in a 21-12 loss. Rutgers won four of the ten bouts and pulled within three points late in the dual, but Michigan secured the final two matches to close out the victory.
Dylan Shawver provided the biggest moment of the night, earning the 100th victory of his collegiate career with a 4-1 decision at 133 pounds. Ayden Smith, Remy Cotton and Andrew Barbosa also earned victories for Rutgers, but Michigan’s bonus-point wins in the middle weights created a deficit the Scarlet Knights could not fully overcome.
